Type of Opportunity: Choreographic Competition

Deadline: March 26, 2021

The Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover eV has been organizing the Europe-wide unique ‘International Competition for Choreography’ for 35 years. During this long period it has become an important factor in the national and international dance landscape. There are many dance competitions, but the International Choreography Competition in Hanover is the longest-running choreography competition in the WORLD! The internationality of the applicants – on average over 300 choreographers from over 50 nations take part – as well as the high-caliber jury that is made every year show the high status it enjoys in the international dance scene.

Choreographers must have professional training. The age limit for the choreographers is 39 years. The choreography must have a duration of 5-12 minutes and a solo may not be interpreted by the choreographers themselves. The choice of the topic and the music is free. With these few framework conditions, the possibility is created that the competition is open to any stylistic direction. Evaluation criteria are solely an imaginative use of space and time, the dance realization of an idea and its transfer to the performers. A solo-ballet may not be interpreted by the choreographer him/herself.   The choreographic work can be send as an Internet link ( youtube, vimeo, etc.)  A DVD is also accepted.
